Teams – They Have Emotions

As we ask teams to continue to stay up and motivated, to keep their levels of energies up we need to understand that these levels will drop.  Most of the time it is by individuals one or two at a time but there are those times that the entire team spirit drops.  This is the time to find out why and perhaps have a discussion to find out what’s going on.  Emotions do fluctuate and there may even be that time that the team doesn’t seem to have much energy.

This is a great time to keep the practice the same because sometimes teams have to fight through things.  But the emotion of the team should be acknowledged and at times talked about.  Sometimes that can clear the air.  It is simply true that a team cannot have positive emotions all the time.  That’s just the way it is.  They are human.  Acknowledge the feelings, even ask them how you might help.  And on those times that something bad happens, let the team grieve.  However let them know that dreams are meant to go on and sometimes it takes pushing through it- big or small.
