Wounded – Hurricane Sandy 2012

They warned you were coming

They saw you

They talked about you

They showed your colors

~

`You were massive

You were menacing

You stretched 2000 miles

You came along the shore

~

Slowly at first

As if a marching army

As you brought clouds

Mixed with rain

And your unforgiving winds

~

The moon was your partner

The tides your friend

You conspired to come together

~

Then you turned

Along side the shore was not good enough

And you turned

~

You caused devastation

You took relentlessly

You striped

You flooded

You killed

~

Yet Sandy,

In your wake

There is power

There is hope

Resilience

Compassion

Humanity

Coming together

~

You have gone

But the people

The people will rise again

~

You will have made them stonger.
